WE BELIEVE
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is without error and is the authority upon which we base our faith, doctrine, and conduct. The Bible does not contain the Word of God; it is the Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21) The Church (universal) has no authority to establish doctrine or practices contrary to these Scriptures or to revise them to suit their own purposes.
We believe in the historical record of the Bible, including the literal existence of Adam and Eve, the literal fall and the resultant divine curse on the creation, the worldwide, cataclysmic deluge and the origin of nations and languages at the tower of Babel. (Gen. 1:11)
We believe in ONE God who is the Father and Creator of all that exists. Paul, in 1 Timothy 3: 16 wrote, " And without controversy, great is the mystery of Godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in this world, received up in gloryâ€Â. Through His Word He spoke the universe into existence (Gen. 1:1). He created our forbearers, Adam and Eve, from whom all humanity has proceeded (Gen. 2:7). God is holy (Lev. 11:45); love (1 John 4:8); light (1 John 1:5); true (Rom. 3:4); faithful (1 Cor. 1:9); righteous (Dan. 9:14); merciful (Ps. 116:5); and unchanging (Mal. 3:6; James 1:17). He is omnipresent (Ps. 139:7) – He is everywhere present at the same time. He is omniscient (Ps. 139:1-2) - He has all knowledge, including all past, present, and future events. He is omnipotent (Jer. 32:27) - There is nothing beyond His ability or power to achieve.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of Mary (who was a virgin at the time of His conception and birth), and is fully God and fully man. (Mt. 1:18-23; Rom. 1:2-4) He died for our sins, was buried, rose from the dead after three days, and ascended into heaven, (1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11) He will physically return to the earth one day to judge both the living and the dead and to set up a kingdom that will never end.(2 Tim. 4:1; Rev. 19:11-16; Rev. 20:11-13; Luke 1:32-33)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Promise of the Father, who was given to indwell all believers in Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:4; 2:33) The Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost and is promised to all who believe. (Acts 2:1-4; 38-39) He is the abiding helper, teacher, and guide of every believer. (John 16:7; 14:26; 16:13-15; Rom. 8:14) The fruit of the Spirit is the production of the character of Jesus Christ in the life of individual believers. (Gal. 5:22-23) The gifts of the Holy Spirit are the evidence of the working of the Spirit in both individual believers and the corporate Body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12:4-11; Rom. 12:6-8)
We believe, because of the fall, man is incapable of attaining divine righteousness (Romans 3:10-18). Therefore, our salvation is by grace alone through repentance and faith in the perfect work of Jesus Christ on the cross, through whom we receive forgiveness of sins. (Eph. 2:8-9; Heb. 9:12; Rom. 5:21) There is no other name on earth through which a person may be saved (Acts 4:12) and no other means of salvation outside of Jesus Christ. (1 Tim. 2:5) This provides the promise of eternal life for believers.(John 5: 24, 3:16)
We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion in the Name of The Lord Jesus Christ. (Mt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5) The purposes of water baptism are remission of sins (Acts 2:38) and identification with the death and burial of Jesus Christ. (Col. 2:12)
We believe in the sacraments of The Lord’s Supper (Communion), Marriage, and Dedication of Children.
We believe that the daily devotion to prayer, praise and reading the Word will strengthen the Believer and that it is imperative for a productive, living connection to God.
